Since November, 15 of 2002-year
the project "Maintenance of the intellectual property"
is carried out.
The purpose of the
project is protection of the rights to intellectual property
(IP) and carrying out of corresponding educational work
in territory of republic.
- Within the framework of the project the Center on protection
of the rights of owners of the intellectual property is
created. On IP, irrespective of their citizenship, and
also to the local and international organizations which
are carrying out activity in the given sphere, including
Nongovernmental organizations (NGO), in the Center necessary
consultation and other practical legal aid is given owners
of the rights living in Azerbaijan.
- According to the project, to owners of patents, trade
marks, geographical indications, trade marks, etc., to
the persons having security documents on IP and adjacent
rights, and also the claimants, wishing to receive the
right on IP, adjacent rights or the license, in the Center
assist in drawing up of necessary documents and representation
of their legitimate interests in enforcement authorities
and courts.
- With the purpose of carrying out of educational work
it is planned carrying out of some open seminars for owners
of IP, representatives of the public and the organizations
working in this sphere. Seminars will pass in cities Baku,
Ganja, Naxchivan, Alibayramli, Sheki and Lenkoran.
- information-legal bulletins will be issued and distributed.
Actual problems of IP will find the illumination in mass-media.
The perspective purposes
of the project:
- Adjustment of contacts to the local in these area local
and international organizations, (including NGO) with
the purpose of joint activity on creation in the given
sphere of an information field between the state, representatives
of creative activity and the public;
- Attraction of attention of the public to the decision
of problems in sphere IP;
- Preparation and representation of offers in a legislature
of the country for rendering assistance on reduction of
the current legislation of the country sphere IP conformity
with the international rules of law.
All listed actions correspond to the purposes, problems
and long-term plans of "Society and Right" Public
Community, carrying out protection of the rights to the
intellectual property - an integral part of the rights
and freedom of the person.
The project is carried out by the lawyers having the corresponding
operational experience in sphere of IP, with financial
assistance of Open Society Institute Assistance Foundation.
